Please tune in for my interview with BRCA Strong and Experts In Pink on W4CY Radio. BRCA Strong founder, Tracy Milgram-Posner and author of Experts In Pink: Your Guide to Breast Health, Cindy Papale-Hammontree, have joined forces in the effort to educate and empower everyone affected by breast cancer. They join me for Your Book Your Brand Your Business on Monday, February 3 at 5 p.m. Eastern. You can listen to the live interview and join the chat room at www.w4cy.com.
Here’s a bit about Tracy Milgram-Posner and the BRCA Strong vision in her own words. Discover more at her website, www.brcastrong.org:
I’m Tracy Milgram-Posner an advocate of women’s health and the Founder of BRCAStrong. The goal of BRCAStrong is to navigate our members through the various stages they go through as Previvors, Thrivers and Survivors. While doing this we also want to empower women living with mastectomies and help the best we can with the wonderful network of women we have formed and with the right foundation and physicians to properly support their needs. I created BRCAStrong in 2015 with this message in mind. I saw and felt the need to create BRCAStrong to give back to women who are in need of post mastectomy garments and help them feel whole again. As a Previvor herself, who was diagnosed with the BRCA 2 gene at the young age of 21, I can sympathize with many women going through this process. At 32 years old I made the difficult decision to undergo a robotic hysterectomy and a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy. I know what it’s like to feel isolated and along and so I formed this organization to help women feel whole again. I’m proud to share in 2019 we became a 501c3 non-profit organization. In the past four years we have hosted events, educational panels, fashion shows, and much more. This group started with one and has grown nationally with over 2200 female members. The big takeaway is this is an organization about support, advocacy, guidance and love.
I hope to empower and inspire all women and men who may have the BRCA gene. My vision is to bring awareness and educate those who may not know what the BRCA gene is and how it can affect a person’s life. I want those who have been through this journey (just as I have) to find a community within this site and know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. My commitment is to reduce the risk, spread the knowledge, and make a difference in everyone’s lives touched by Previvors, Survivors and Thrivers/Fighters!
I’ve known the indefatigable and effervescent Cindy Papale-Hammontree for over a decade now. I’ve assisted her with the editing and (indie) publication of two books, Miami Breast Cancer Experts: Your Indispensable Guide to Breast Health (2015), and Experts In Pink: Your Guide to Breast Health (2018). A nearly 20-year breast cancer survivor, Cindy’s efforts on behalf of patients and caregivers dealing with breast cancer have made a positive impact in her community and around the world.
Together, these two incredible women are a powerful force. Through the sharing of vital information about treatment options and recovery to promoting emotional, mental, and physical health and wellness, they inspire and assist others to emerge from a breast cancer diagnosis with hope for a brighter future. They provide patients and caregivers with the tools they need to thrive beyond breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
